Key Largo Hotels For A Florida Beach Holiday

By April Briggs

Florida will undoubtedly be at or near the top of a list of the world's top beach holiday locations. Every year, millions of visitors arrive on the state's Gulf Coast and Atlantic beaches for a stay in a nice and sun-drenched beach community. One of these locations is the Florida Keys, and that is what keeps Key Largo hotels packed full all year round.

The city and island of Key Largo are situated in Monroe County, towards the north end of the Florida Keys. One thing that makes it stand apart from other similarly sunny beach communities is the extraordinary length and the endless beaches that stretch forever along the coast. There's also the fact that it's the perfect gateway stop for visitors from Miami heading for the Everglades.

It makes this place highly popular as a gateway or base for visitors who want to divide their time between the urban fleshpots of Miami and the natural wonders in the 1.4 million acre Everglades National Park. Oh, and let's not forget the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. That's what makes it the self-proclaimed diving capital of the world.

The choice of a hotel as a place to stay should be made taking into consideration the usual factors such as price and amenities. But it's also about the location, which in this case is particularly important. Before getting to actual locations, it might be a good idea to get the lay of the island, so to speak.

This coral reef of an island is long and thin, and the Overseas Highway enters through Florida City into the city's middle through a bridge and turns to take a parallel route alongside the beaches. Another bridge on Card Sound Road enters from the mainland into the northern end. Most of the popular lodging and hotel choices are to be found on either side of the Overseas Highway, close to or on the beach.

So it's simple enough to deduce that anyone looking for a nice place to stay with an ocean view should use the Overseas Highway. The endless row of lodging establishments begins right after the road turns to follow the beaches. The ideal location on this route can be decided based on the trip itinerary.

So visitors heading for the Everglades will find it easier to get there as they drive further south along the highway. On the other hand, divers, snorkelers and other sundry underwater adventure seekers can explore the coral reef and admire the huge aquarium with a fully reconstructed coral reef inside it if they are closer to the island's middle or the north end. This means a place to stay close to where the highway swings to follow the coast.

Most every establishment offers guests standard in-room amenities like Wi-Fi, microwaves, refrigerators and cable. Continental breakfasts tend to be complimentary, along with beverages like tea and coffee. An outdoor pool is quite common too, and so are room service, free parking, a concierge, laundry and other such things that make life easy for people who are enjoying a holiday. In fact, a stay at most any hotel in Key Largo is pretty much guaranteed to be a highly memorable holiday.
