Why Military Antennas Play A Big Role Against Terrorism

By Nancy Gardner

The threat of terrorism has shaken the world. Many people fear for their lives, especially those who are living in Syria and Iran. Women, including children, have been raped and killed by notorious members of ISIS, a Salafi jihadi extremist militant group who have held captive at least ten million residents in Iraq and Syria. They also have taken control of the entire oil fields in Syria and Iran. If the threat of terrorism is not immediately stopped, it can cause detrimental effects not only economically, but also socially and politically.

Over 60 countries have joined the US in the battle against terrorism. The coalition led by the US forces has conducted military intervention in Syria and Iraq through airstrikes and heavily armed commandos. Different countries have sent state of the art firearms and tools to the US forces to show their support in battling ISIS. One form of most extremely helpful tools used in war are the different types of military antennas.

This type of antennas are precise and reliable tool that is used is wide variety of defense and precision application, including unmanned airborne vehicles, electronic IED countermeasures, missiles, and vehicle telemetry, SATCOM, asset tracking, airborne, and portable ground and satellite communications. Antennas are widely used for communication and monitoring. Below are some of the antennas that are beneficial often used in military operations.

Satellite Communication Antenna. SATCOM has been used by the national defense force for decades because of its ability to cover farther and wider distance, with frequency that ranges about 0.3 GHz to more than 30 GHz. Although man made satellites are located in the space, signals are being passed and rebounded back to the earth . There are 4 types of antennas used in satellite communication: parabolic, horn type, helical style, phased array type.

Unmanned Vehicle Antenna. (UVA). AKA the combat drone, UVA are powered by jet electric engines, usually armed with missiles and no human pilot manning this aircraft. This is the type of aircraft we see in the movies where the pilot is on the ground controlling it from a remote terminal. Basically like a video game.

Since the drone has many advantages, it does not come in a cheap prices. Not more than 10 countries are capable of buying a drone. The US, UK, Pakistan, and China have been reported to own drones and which are own technologies.

Conformal Antenna. Conformal antenna (aka avionics antenna) is a flat radio antenna which is intentionally designed to follow some prescribed shapes. The largest applications of this type of antenna are missiles and aircraft. They are widely used by the military because it can easily camouflage because it can easily blend with a structure.

Vehicle Telemetry Antenna. Vehicle telematics system has a wireless transmission and reception that help monitor its surroundings. Aside from monitoring a location, this type of device is also used in testing the missiles, satellites, and aircraft. It also shows the battery of a device where it is incorporated. Missiles, satellites, and aircraft testing use vehicle telemetry antenna.

With the help of these technologies, military forces have a huge chance of winning the war against terrorism. There are other military systems which are not included in this articles. The things mentioned above are the most commonly used antennas. If you want to know more information on this products, you can visit its official website.
