About Exciting Machu Picchu Galapagos Packages

Combining the most interesting tourist attractions into one tour is always very nice solution. Taking one of very popular Machu Picchu Galapagos packages you can combine two of the most interesting destinations in South America into one incredible journey. Once you come to Peru, you can explore Cusco, the center of Inca's empire. From there, you can proceed to the legendary Sacred Valley. On your way, you can stop in a small town of Ollantaytambo, to see really interesting Inca's fortress. Once there, you could take a train. The train follows the Urumba River, on the way to a famous Inca's city.

Machu Picchu was built in the fifteenth century, most probably during the reign of Pachacuti. This masterpiece of Inca's architecture is really incredible. Precisely shaped stones form walls resistant to earthquakes, and this was really important in this area, with so high seismic activity. There was no need for mortar here, the stones were so precisely adjusted. Some reconstructing works were done here, but most parts are saved as they were.

The city was deserted after only one century, and there are numerous theories about the reason for this. Some believe there was an epidemic of chickenpox, brought by conquistadors. Sacred stones are all preserved, thanks to the fact that Spanish didn't know about this place. Anyway, it was buried deep in the jungle until discovered by Hiram Bingham, in 1911.

Machu Picchu is surrounded by sacred land, and some scientists believe that it was built to honor it. Others assume it was dedicated to the Virgins of the Sun. In fact, there are so many theories about it. For some time, it was believed that Machu Picchu was the mysterious Lost City, but after the real one was found, this theory no longer stands. The important thing is that this incredible place is here to explore it.

In the Pacific Ocean, there is another place that will take your breath away. The Galapagos Islands are home to so many wonderful animal and plant species that they form astonishing marine ecosystem that exists only here, and nowhere else. Constant volcanic and seismic activity, as well as some other factors, that include specific location, made it possible. This unique place offers one truly memorable experience.

Charles Darwin was so amazed by this incredible ecosystems that he wrote his Evolution Theory inspired by them. There are so many incredible, unique life forms here. This include great turtles, marine iguanas and flightless cormorants. There are also different endemic plant species and an incredible variety of birds species to be seen here.

Three massive tectonic plates meet here. Thanks to that, this place has an unique geology as well. Larger young and smaller older islands meet at the same area, providing home for incredible diversity of marine life forms. Diving surrounded with these incredible animals and breath-taking corals is one incredible lifetime experience.
